Following some staff changes, Nikita has taken over the development of the Business Valuation System and is now nearing completion.

We're currently refining the functionality but the screenshots below give a good indication of what the first version will do and how it will work.

Balance Sheet

Profit & Loss

Different evaluation options are then done on separate worksheets, with different options and variables where needed.

New Excel Template: Business Valuation System

The Business Valuation System will be used to estimate the economic value of a business. This will primarily be used by business an accountant to access the value of a business.

Business valuations will mostly be for providing clients with a valuation on their business, for the purpose of seeking investment, finance or when considering selling, or for providing a valuation for clients considering investing in or purchasing a business.

Valuation Categories

Three categories for assisting in a business valuation have been identified. These are:

  • Operating Performance Valuation
  • Asset Valuation
  • Market Position

Operating Performance Valuation

It is the valuation of operating cost of the historic and current years and future predictions. Here the expenses involved would be divided into two sub sections:

  1. Cost of Sales
  2. Overhead Expenses

These will be broken down into a small number of key categories to assist with the valuation and understanding of the figures presented.

Cost of Sales includes:

  • Materials and Supplies
  • Labour
  • Freight and Distribution
  • Advertising & Marketing Cost
  • Other Expenses

Overhead expenses will include:

  • Rent
  • Administrative Salaries and Wages
  • Other Expenses

From our research so far we feel this level of detail should be sufficient in the base operating performance vaulation. It will certainly be possible to link more detailed figures into these using formula and the ability to copy or add worksheets to the template.
